Why have lithium batteries replaced lead acid batteries?
LLead has long been the star of batteries, but its polluting, dangerous nature and limitations quickly paved the way for lithium, which offers many advantages in terms of performance and safety. Here are some notable differences:
BMS monitoring
Unlike lead-acid batteries, lithium batteries are equipped with a Battery Management System (BMS) which constantly monitors the battery. This improves performance, lifespan and safety by adapting the charge according to temperature.
Rapid charges
Rapid or partial charges do not damage lithium batteries, while they can have harmful consequences on lead-acid batteries.
Reduced weight
Lithium batteries are much lighter, offering a significant advantage: 6 kg/kWh for lithium compared to 30 kg/kWh for lead.
Fast loading
A lithium battery of similar size can be charged to 50% in just 25 minutes, while a lead-acid battery would require 6 to 8 hours for a full charge.
Superior lifespan
Lithium batteries have a lifespan 3 to 4 times longer than lead-acid batteries, with a capacity of at least 1200 charge cycles, compared to 300 to 500 cycles for lead-acid batteries.
At TecSup, we design custom lithium batteries to offer the best performance and the highest level of safety, tailoring them precisely to your specific needs.
