Guarantee safety through international standards
Regulation plays a vital role in preventing battery-related accidents by imposing strict standards. Among the most important standards we find IEC 62133, IEC 62619, UL 2271 and UL 2054, each with a specific field of application.
✔️ IEC 62133
This standard is crucial when it comes to battery safety. It establishes requirements and tests for portable and waterproof cells and batteries, with the exception of button cells. Its objective is to guarantee the proper functioning of batteries under normal and predictable conditions of use, while ensuring their safety.
✔️ IEC 62619
Geared toward industrial applications, this standard focuses on the risk of internal short circuiting, often related to battery design, including cell spacing. It includes a propagation test aimed at preventing the thermal runaway of one cell from spreading to others. This standard also requires testing of shocks, drops and other physical impacts to assess the risk of fire.
✔️ UL 2271
This standard applies to batteries in light vehicles sold in the United States, such as electric scooters. It subjects batteries to rigorous testing, including thermal runaway, overcharge/overdischarge, crush, external short circuit, water immersion and vibration. In addition, it influences the regulatory labeling of batteries by requiring warnings and imposing safe thermal ranges for the proper operation of batteries.
✔️ UL 2054
This standard imposes tests similar to UL 2271 certification, but it concerns lithium batteries intended for more general use.
At TecSup, we scrupulously comply with these international standards to guarantee the safety and reliability of our batteries, whatever their field of application. We are committed to respecting the essential references for the design and manufacture of safe and efficient lithium-ion batteries.
